How do you design the ideal retirement home interior when you are several states away? Work with Audrey Kate Design! This home in Leesburg, Virginia was well underway in its transformation by the time the homeowners moved from New York.
Based on approved design plans, the house was painted and furniture and accessories were ordered and put in place. The design incorporated some well-loved furniture items and artwork owned by the client.
One special touch was to rework the great room right off the kitchen into a media room. There are no coffee tables or side tables, just one giant reclining sectional. This was the use of that space and the design that was a perfect fit for this client.
Another feature of this home is a custom-made dining table, commissioned to a local craftsman to match a beloved Bernhardt hutch. Since the hutch was has a different vibe than what is in style in stores today, the custom route was the best way to get the right match. Through pictures sent by the client, we determined the kind of wood and the right design. The result is a gorgeous one-of-a-kind piece.
